One Of The World's Oldest Breeds! The Lusitano is one of the world's oldest breeds. Closely related to the Andalusian of Spain, these breeds originated on the Iberian Peninsula. In the late 1960's the breeds split, and in Portugal today, the breed is known as the Lusitano, or Puro Sangue Lusitano.
This baroque horse was bred to be a war horse, and their courage and agility made them well-suited to be the mounts of bullfighters. Standing between 15-16h, the Lusitano is most often grey or bay, but can be almost any solid coat color. These stunning horses are favored for classical dressage because of their refined and elegant movement.
