Rugged Ride STAY UP Fly Boots - Set of 4. Made from breathable mesh, these fly boots features 50% more sewn-in STAY UP technology. Our boots have 3 polymer stays while the leading competitor has only two. Rugged Ride STAY UP boots wrap securely with heavy-duty full length Velcro for durability and breakaway safety. Offers season-long protection and minimizes stomping and swishing by just simply keeping the flies off your equine's legs.
These leggings style fly boots have breathable mesh that does not allow biting flies to penetrate and eliminates botfly eggs from being laid, all while allowing air to circulate, which is especially comfortable for healing wounds. Your horse will be under less stress and have less leg fatigue and hoof cracks from constant stomping.
NOTE: Please refer to the sizing chart on measuring for the proper fit of these boots. The boots should be adjusted slightly smaller than the hairline at the top of the hoof, so that they rest just above the coronet band. This keeps the boot from sliding down over the hoof, preventing your horse from walking on the boots.

You will want to order a high vis color because while they are very sturdy, horses do figure out how to take them off. I ordered the large horse size for my 3 year old 16hh+ thoroughbred and they provide great coverage. We're trying to convert him over to being barefoot, so anything to reduce hoof stomping and cracking/chipping is advantageous. These definitely keep the flies off and he stomps and swishes his tail a lot less than his herdmates.

I bought these this summer as the flies have been the worst I've yet to experience. They stay up, they keep the flies from biting my horses legs so they lessen their stomping and so far. They seem fairly sturdy. I'm exceptionally please with these boots for their quality and their price. Plus. The colors help me keep track of which boots belong to which horse saving me time.

I've been using these Rugged Ride fly boots for two years now and they have lasted two seasons! I've purchased a couple more pairs to switch out color and to be able to take home and wash. They do run small, and I use the extra large size on my horse with normal/slightly narrow legs. I do like them large enough to rest on top of the hoof without touching the ankle joint so that they don't cause rubs. I love that they stay up so well!

I ordered the largest size and they only went about 3/4 around the pastern (Drum gelding) - it is a shame, they are great! I wish they made a size suitable for drafts.

Nice boots for the money and lots of color options. The sewing the hose Velcro on has come apart on one or two with boots and at least on one boot the stay has popped out of the bottom. Nice quality otherwise and good materials used.

There are some nice and bright color options. I find that the velcro is good but the sewing to attach the velcro to the boot isn't so great. The plastic stays have already popped out of the bottom of one of the boots. The stays don't necessarily stay very straight long either and once they've been they won't go straight again.

These stay up just fine but the stays wear through the bottom binding quickly and the thread to sew the velcro breaks easily. I am frequently making repairs and reinforcing the bottom. If you can sew and don't mind making repairs they work great.
