If you are trying to decide between 2 sizes, go with the larger one. I have a 16h horse and bought the Large. He definitely needed the XL!. ALSO, I called Chicks before I ordered this item and Customer Service assured me it had a Velcro closure around the girth, BUT it is a large, plastic Buckle. I have very arthritic hands and really do not like the buckles that I have to grip and squeeze, not to mention that they have a tendency to rub and eventually crack.
