Showman Knitted Wool String Girth

So I admit I am a little bit picky with my cinches. I usually buy pure mohair. But this was on sale and it's so PRETTY that I decided to take a chance on it. So far, so good! It IS beautiful, no doubt about it. And while I normally like doubled strand cinches (27 instead of 15 or whatever this is) it has been functioning great on my first few trail rides. You *might* want to size down if you buy one and are not sure what size to get. I ordered a 32 and it measures just about 31 or 32 and string cinches have some stretch. I would say it's closer to 33/34 when in use. But as I imagine they are hand made, I don't know if they all run an inch or two big or not. It hasn't stretched much at all, it was simply generous to begin with. I also wonder what this is made from. The decorative weaving looks and feels like wool. The cinch strands itself, I'm not sure. But either way, for 1/3 the price of a good mohair cinch, I am happy with it. The only thing I wonder about, is if the rings for your breast collar will eventually tear out. I normally use cinches with a nylon center. But I know some of the better mohair cinches are woven like this too. I do worry about such things as when in-use your breast collar sometimes puts pressure on those rings. But anyway, it's a very pretty cinch and I am happy with it so far. :) I would say if you are doing more light riding, arenas or gentle trails, maybe even casual shows, this is a lovely cinch and gives some beautiful color to your tack. If you are doing hard riding, I might go with something a little more heavy-duty. But that's just my impression, this might last as long as the more expensive ones I have no idea.
