Silver Fox Hunting Breastplate with Running Martingale

For the price, the quality and function is nice. It is large on a smaller horse. I have a 15hh grade QH and the breast plate and martingale were slightly large. I solved this by punching holes in the breastplate and tying the martingale to shorten and and it definitely suits its purpose. Just wish they offered this is cob size! But otherwise I like it and it looks nice.

I purchased this breastplate/running martingale combination for my grade mare (3/4 American Paint, 1/4 Tennessee Walking Horse) who has a nasty habit of throwing a head tossing tantrum when she wants to run rather than walk. When I put the breast plate on her, it was VERY over sized for her chest. I punched new holes in the base/girth connecting strap and tightened it as far as it would go and the breastplate was still too big. My horse is a little small, but she stands at 15 hands, so she isn't a pony either. All in all, I solved the size issue by cutting the shoulder/neck straps (Not the running martingale piece) and sewing in two buckles near the central ring which allowed me to tighten the breastplate portion as needed. I just wish there was some mention of the size of this breastplate/running martingale combination in the item description and/or that it was already adjustable at the shoulder straps - it certainly would have saved me time and money. Note: One shoulder strap from the central ring to the ring at the withers is 24 1/2 inches long. I had to shorten it on both sides to approximately 18 inches.
